Since rural tourism stakeholders currently have little or no access to the relevant and required knowledge and information to sustainably manage and grow their businesses competitively, they, therefore, cannot ensure the viability of their natural, cultural and heritage businesses. One of ESCAPE2’s main objectives is to develop a set of tailored, innovative course materials and modules so that SMEs are equipped and adequately up to date, informed and supported to manage their businesses optimally.

The COMMON STARTEGY FOR RURAL TOURISM PROGRESS  aim:

•  based on the collection of data for rural tourism needs and good practices across Europe,  to improve professional skills in the sector, developing innovation in tourism and reinforcing the quality of supply in all its dimensions by training and information for all operators,
• to improve the capacity building of the target groups and increase cooperation among local, national and international stakeholders, with particular reference to policy makers and economic operators (SMEs) in regards to tourism sustainable development strategies by improving their possibilities of exchange information, policies and best practices and experiences
  
• to develop a comprehensive and relevant course curriculum and content to implement this strategy at local levels. The ESCAPE2 Course Curricula is customised for rural regions so that they have the resources specific to their needs enabling them to adopt the practical and professional skills required for this particular sector
• Rural tourism businesses will gain access to a relevant set of indicators so that they can measure, monitor and manage their performance developments and sustainability over time.
